Okay, it's admittedly discouraging to always hear or read ( or report ) such negative news coming from Washington, especially when our current administration seems so determined to turn a deaf ear to those in need ( Bush's secret signing into law giving himself --and his administration-- immunity from prosecution of war crimes, took effect October 17, 2006...this was approved by Congress ). Let us not forget, despite wage cuts and difficult times, that you --the people-- are the backbone of this country, that you are stronger than any one or one hundred so-called leaders, that you are what MAKES this country. It is far too easy to get lost in our comfortable world and fall back into our shells of full grocery stores and constant electricity; but things ARE happening that will affect your future and the future of your children. Yes, it's discouraging ( and scary ) to follow the antics of the White House; but these are tough times, primarily because of our administration and its resulting infection to our corporate world ( notice how the worker is constantly hit but CEOs and Presidents are rewarded REGARDLESS of performance ). If this has you even a tiny bit interested, then you've come to the right place.
Now ( unfortunately ) the blare of negative news does become numbing...how much money or power or deception is enough to satisfy our heads of state ( just one example are the leaks by Karl Rove -- remember Karl Rove? He's the one who told Bush that attending any U.S. soldier's funeral is a sign of "weakness;" and to date, the number of the over 3800 soldiers' funerals Bush has attended?...zero ). And why is the media ( and much of our Congress ) so scared to confront what --by any other standards-- seem to be outright lies or the breaking of laws? Take Iraq...are we leaving anytime soon? Not likely since Bush is not only confronting Congress about his ability to STAY in Iraq despite what he told Congress, but is spending much of the newly approved $82 billion to build 16 huge military bases and a new embassy there ( the embassy --on schedule-- alone will cost a projected $168 million and house the world's largest swimming pool, all being constructed by Kuwaiti --not Iraqi-- workers )...all this while schools, electricity and water remain near pre-war levels for native Iraqis ( meanwhile, Bush has broken his own record of weapon sales to other countries ). And the Downing Street memos show Bush ordering daily bombing increases on Iraq ( by nearly 500% ) some 6 months before the actual "start" of the war ( and before war was even "approved" by Congress ). And despite what Bush keeps saying, Iraq still has not been linked to anything dealing with September 11th ( indeed, as speculated by a 3-hour special by the BBC, the entire Al Queda-Twin Towers link could have been an creation of the Bush administration. If this is your frame of mind, then keep reading...here are just a few of Bush's recent debaucheries...
Bush has also given the go ahead for the Pentagon to begin production of a new type of land mine...for some quick background, the use of U.S. land mines last occurred in the Gulf War when over 100,000 land mines were scattered from planes; Bush's dad then signed a moratorium banning the export of land mines, and President Clinton sought a "worldwide agreement" on ending the use of land mines. But the current Bush announced in February of 2004 that the U.S. not only would NOT sign the 1997 Mine Ban Treaty, but would withdraw from the same Ottawa Convention pledged by 145 other countries, saying, "Landmines (sic) still have a valid and essential role protecting United States forces in military operations." As he announced the new land mine being developed by the Pentagon ( and thought to already be in trial use in Iraq ), Bush surpassed his own record of weapons sales to "repressive and undemocratic regimes," according to the Arms Trade Resource Center a division of the World Policy Institute. Bush then went on the sign a questionable nuclear technology deal with India ( questionable because analysts predict that it will fuel the fire between Pakistan and India )...as an added note, Bush continues to spend $27 billion per year on nuclear weapon development and related programs.
And with the passage of the new Energy bill ( which continues to give oil companies an annual $6 billion in subsidies, despite their record profits...Exxon again made $40 BILLION in PROFIT ), the nuclear industry received a big boost with guaranteed loans and "no risk" liability insurance, all paid for by you, of course. And word leaked out that Bush's No Child Left Behind was tracking all high school students in a military database -- this was mandatory for any school to receive federal funding, leaving parents and students virtually no chance to opt out ( the "opt out" option wll get you out of the federal tracking list, but leave your name in the private database --paid by taxpayers-- used by military recruiters; meanwhile, the FBI admitted that it continues its surveillance of any anti-Bush protesters...this does not include the roughly 500 different people spied on every day or the past 3-4 years ); and with little fanfare, Bush again cut the EPA budget ( down 36% in 2 years ), opening nearly a third of national forests ( 58 million acres ) to logging and road access; Iran held firm on its nuclear program, citing Bush's refusal to sign Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty ( indeed, Bush is seeking to step up the U.S.' production of enriched uranium for nuclear devices...he's already offered to sell Israel some nuclear bunker-busting bombs ); meanwhile, the Pentagon found no wrong doing in Iraq by Pentagon officials ( surprise...the official 328 page report is completely blacked out, other than a 21 page summary released to press...now comes the blacking out of the FBI's 9/11 report, released in late-August and viewable only by a select few in Congress ); and for you consumers, the new bankruptcy law does NOT provide debt protection for identity theft ( provision was removed by Republicans at the last minute ) but will protect million-dollar homes ( the credit card industry, high on the list of lobbying groups, will save approximately $40 billion; what wasn't said was that bankruptcy abusers account for only 5% of all bankruptcies, while the majority are filed by people facing job losses or massive medical bills ); also silently announced in the new EPA air quality standards were allowable increases in mercury emissions ( up 520% since Bush took office ). On the homeland security front, 15 candidates turned down the offer to head Homeland Security, all except Michael Chertoff ( primary author of the Patriot Act ) who accepted the position; Bush, facing criticsm over his request for more discretionary funding for Iraq, quietly cancelled $150 million in food aid to Sudan and sent the money to the Pentagon budget instead; China signed a $100 billion oil deal with Iran while India signed its own $50 billion natural gas contract with Iran ( which has the world's 2nd largest reserve of natural gas as well ), further complicating Bush plans to bomb Iran; but then U.S. oil companies are banned from opererating in Iran due to sanctions, with the exception that is, of Halliburton ( not to worry...Bush is set to give the oil industry an additional windfall giveaway of $7 billion by NOT having the U.S. collect royalties ). Bush's not-dead-yet Social Security privitazation plan will give Wall Street a $940 BILLION boost if approved ( Business Week, 1.24.05 ); and on the plus side( for Bush, not for the consumer ) Bush got his requested exemption for the Pentagon regarding the clean-up of perchlorate in water as the EPA upped the allowable limits ( was Congress bribed to change our food and water laws? -- seems suspicious as they voted to kill labeling laws in March ); Libya opened for trading, which means oil and gas contracts are now available ( Libya has the world's 9th largest oil reserves ); and coming full circle, 50% of Iraqi civilian deaths from war-related fighting are now estimated to be children under 14 ( that from the respected British medical journal, The Lancet. There...feel better already about your vote? If not, keep reading...this is, after all, your President.
As for George W. Bush...yes, he lied and went AWOL from the military for 18 months and was arrested 3 times, including once for a DUI and for using cocaine ( how many of us have been arrested even once? ); but hey, this is the son of George Bush you're talking about so you'd better dismiss or hide all charges ( indeed, all charges --including his DUI-- were removed from public view; meanwhile the Pentagon released a letter on 7.9.04 saying that microfilm of Bush's payroll records in the military could not be salvaged and were destroyed; but thanks to a lawsuit filed by the Associated Press, Bush's "lost" records were found two months later showing that he did indeed go AWOL during crucial alert status drills ). But did he really do business with the Taliban and the Bin Ladens while governor of Texas? You bet! So much so that George W. allowed Saudi jets to fly 24 members of the Bin Laden family out of the U.S. just days after 9/11...while ordering all private U.S. air traffic grounded ( Saudi Arabia? I thought that Bush is saying all the terrorists came from Iraq? ).
And if you think George W. is working for homeland security here in the U.S., you might want to peek at the book by Senator Robert C. Byrd, "Losing America -- Confronting a Reckless and Arrogant Presidency." In the book, Byrd exposes what Bush has been trying to push through Congress, and that includes nine refusals by Bush to fund security at ports, chemical plants and nuclear facilities ( in the current 2005 budget, 90% of the homeland security budget is still directed only to aviation... ). Said Bush, increasing funding for groups such as the Coast Guard "will only expand the size of government." Bush, one must remember, was adamant that the former head of Homeland Security, Tom Ridge, be immune from answering any fiscal questions from Congress. And yes, Bush did accept illegal money from lobbyist Jack Abramoff.
If this leaves you frustrated, angered, or perhaps disgusted at what is happening to our government ( and maybe worthy of being impeached ), then you're visiting the right spot. But even while this page is constantly being updated, there's time to read more...perhaps the one book that defines Bush rewarding his "pioneers" is Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s Crisis in America; also be sure to read Greg Palast's The Best Democracy Money Can Buy and American Dynasty by Kevin Phillips...both are excellent insights into the frustrating drive by the Bush family to gain the power and money that they never had ( most of the early Bush money came from marrying into the Walker family; it was only after George H. became vice-president that the Walkers suggested that he and Barbara move into their --the Walker's-- home in Kennebunkport ). And if you think that Bush is simply flaunting his ability to lie to the American public ( and the press' fear to use the term "liar" ), then read When Presidents Lie by Eric Alterman. For you DVD hounds, visit the police state Bush envisions...more terrifying than any Wes Craven film!
So who are we? We're a small company that believes in individuals, that believes that the U.S. is a great country built on good principles ( even when we get tricked into a President that doesn't want a paper trail of anything and has sealed his records --and those of Reagan, Clinton, and George H. Bush-- from the public forever ). We also believe that world peace is possible, and that all of us are interconnected. Okay, so sometimes we become sarcastic ( like considering naming this page www.MoronBush ); but we take out our frustration by making some pretty good products for the money. Take a peek at our MessageShirts, tees designed to be read by those behind you ( hey, become your own walking billboard ); or our Peace tee, back after selling out some years ago. And our Stop tees present the shocking statistics behind issues such as domestic violence, child abuse and animal abuse...okay, enough tees. How about being able to link to all sorts of other sites that you may find interesting ( such as www.truthout.org, Global Security, GraceLinks and Common Dreams ).
So zoom over to the next page...or write to us at: georgew@moreonbush.com
We depend on your input and we're not just saying that; our basic philosophy is that individuals do make a difference! So what do you think. Are our elected officials out of touch? Our feeling is, dang right...and it's time we let them know ( read the refreshing profile on Montana's Jim Tester in the June 2007 issue of Men's Journal ).
See you soon. New tee designs are always being worked out ( sadly, our M-PEACH-arita Bush tee --much as WE enjoyed it-- is not testing as well as hoped )...thanks for your patience & support! Updated 06.04.08
